Jagannath Puri

When we left the U.S. to go on pilgrimage to Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s pastime places around Puri, we were anticipating pure bliss, and that’s exactly what we got. On the very first day of our yatra, however, Madhava Nandan Prabhu warned us that many obstacles must be overcome before one actually gains entrance into the holy dhama.  Granted, we did have to endure some hardships before we could actually enter the transcendental dhama, but by Srila Prabhupada’s mercy and that of senior devotees such as His Holiness Romapada Maharaja, we were able to overcome them.  In fact, when Rompada Maharaja took us and about fifty other devotees to pilgrimage places such as the Gambira, the Gundica and Lingaraja Temples, Satyabhamapura, Sweta Ganga, Alaranth and countless other places where the Lord and his associates carried out their transcendental pastimes 500 years ago, we felt a stronger, deeper connection to Lord Caitanya and His sankirtan movement than ever before.  Maharaja’s guidance enabled us to experience Mahaprabhu’s true love and to partake in something beyond our comprehension. We are deeply indebted to him for helping us to experience the dhama in its full effect.

By chanting the Holy Name through the streets of Puri and hearing about Mahaprabhu’s nectarian pastimes during his final years in Jagannath Puri, we were truly transported to another world. When we chanted in the dhama, the Holy Name felt fifty times more powerful. We also took the association of other Krishna conscious youth and had the opportunity to engage in service with them. Jagannath Puri Dhama has left a lasting impression on the entire youth group. I think I speak for everyone when I say that the entire trip was truly blissful.

Mayapur

Visiting Sri Mayapur Dham was an unforgettable experience. This youth retreat was organized by His Holiness Romapada Swami and also involved youth from other cities.

Atlanta Panihati Festival

We took a road trip to Atlanta to the Panihati festival. Every year, devotees have asked the youth to come along, but somehow we are not able to go. This year, we got together in two vans at the last minute and decided to go for it! It was one of the best festivals we have ever experienced. Panihati festival is certainly a powerful, and the presence of His Holiness Jayapataka Swami made it even more sweet and ecstatic!

Toronto Rath

Toronto Ratha Yatra…where do I start? It was literally out of this world…I am not joking…literally. I felt like I was entering Vaikuntha as we danced in ecstacy, shoulder to shoulder, with just enough room to sing our hearts out to the fullest. I didn’t need water, I didn’t care that I was hungry, I didn’t care that everyone was sweating profusely around me, nothing mattered but the singing and dancing. It was right. It was perfect. It was exhilarating. There is not a better feeling that playing mridanga with Madhava, Amala Purana, Nakula, Gopal, and many others, as Akinchina yells at the top of his lungs. When I think about the experience now, I can’t decipher what was reality and what was not. I was on a high, a spiritual high, something I don’t even know how to describe. And what is better than doing more kirtan on the beautiful island, with those that are intimately close to His Grace Aindra Prabhu. I felt Aindra Prabhu’s presence; I could hear his voice as Amala Purana sings, “JAI JAI SRI SRI RADHE!!!!!”  I could feel the power of the holy name, the power of harinama sankirtan, as I look from the stage during Madhava’s final kirtan and see more that 100 people dancing in ecstacy. This is real happiness.
